Key facts

A white-flowered perennial common along woodland rides and by hedgerows on moist soils

Large flowers (20–30 mm) with five petals, divided to half way; square stems with narrow, pointed leaves

Lesser stitchwort has smaller flowers (5–12 mm) and grows on hedge banks and in rough grassland

Extras

Once used, mixed with powdered acorns, to treat a stitch or similar pains
